Demand action on Climate Change

The case for taking action on Climate Change is irrefutable. Even the government’s own commissioned  Stern report on the subject is adamant: “the benefits of strong, early action considerably outweigh the costs”.

Stern Report_Exec Summary

Yet in spite of this report being commissioned by George Osborne and David Cameron they have chosen (with the support of the Lib Dems) short term expediency over long term action.  £1.3 billion hand back to the North Sea Oil industry to encourage further exploration and greater extraction from known reserves.  They remain absolute in their support of Fracking in this country as a means to secure our energy future.  This money would be far better deployed investing in research for alternative energy solutions.  It is with this background that we need our newly elected parliament to take immediate action.

The Petition

I demand that my elected MP takes immediate action on Climate Change including ending all subsidies to the Fossil Fuel industries, reversing George Osborne’s £1.3 billion tax hand back to the North Sea Oil industry and placing a moratorium on Fracking in the UK.
